Self-care is so important during the holiday season. Even though it’s a time to celebrate, it’s also a time when stress increases. By taking the time to care for yourself, you will have a more enjoyable and happy holiday season.
Here are some tips for practicing self-care for your mind, body and skin…
Mind
Meditation is a great way to slow down your mind and calm any worries. Spend 10-15 minutes each morning when you wake up and each night before you go to sleep in quiet meditation. If you’re new to meditation, you can use guided audios on YouTube or download an app like Headspace. Meditation will help you clear your thoughts and stay centered. Below are 2 of my favorite guided meditations and for more about how to mind your mind check out this post.
Body
The best way to care for your body is to work out. Movement keeps your body happy and healthy. Find the work out that you enjoy. Maybe it’s taking a walk every morning. Or doing yoga. Or going to a workout class. Whatever gets your blood pumping, stick with it and workout. You’ll feel better. And the best part is working out helps you deal with any extra holiday stress and any extra holiday calories. Other than working out, here are my other top 3 body self-care tips:
-
Start taking baths.
I can’t emphasize this one enough! The benefits of taking a bath for your body are so numerous. It’ll help you unwind, destress, and clear your mind. It helps your skin, and it helps all the systems that need a recharge. Throw in some Epsom salts or essential oils for an extra boost.
-
Take a walk.
Even if you don’t love the idea of working out every single day, going for a walk outside is one of the best things you can do for your body. The fresh air, stretching your legs, and being in nature will make your body feel refreshed and good as new.
-
Schedule in a rub.
I know this is a luxury that we can’t always afford every week, but even once or twice a year is enough to get the benefits of a message. Massage is so wonderful for the body and helps to work out toxins, relax you, and give you an overall sense of wellbeing that your body craves.
